What to Include in a Referral

To help us process your referral as efficiently as possible, please be prepared to provide:

  • Individual’s name and date of birth
  • Primary substance(s) of use and history
  • Co-occurring mental health diagnoses (if any)
  • Current medications
  • Insurance or funding source information
  • Relevant medical or psychiatric history
  • Most recent clinical assessment or evaluation (if available)
  • Contact information for the referring provider or family member

You do not need to have all of this information to contact us. Our admissions team will guide you through the process and identify what is needed.

The Intake Process

This is the standard RCRS intake workflow used across our admissions communications.

Initial Contact

Call (804) 533-2330 or email admissions@rivercityresidentialservices.com. Our admissions staff will gather initial information and answer your questions.

Pre-Screening

Our team conducts a brief pre-screening to identify the individual’s immediate needs and confirm general eligibility for ASAM 3.1 residential care, ASAM 2.5 (PHP), or ASAM 2.1 (IOP).

Clinical Assessment

A comprehensive clinical intake assessment using ASAM criteria is completed to confirm appropriateness for ASAM 3.1, ASAM 2.5 (PHP), or ASAM 2.1 (IOP), and to develop the initial treatment plan.

Admission

When a bed is available and the individual is confirmed eligible, admission is scheduled. Note: we cannot predict or quote waitlist timing. Placement depends on current availability.

Funding & Insurance

RCRS is a Medicaid-only provider. We accept all Virginia Medicaid plans, including Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO) plans.

To discuss insurance coverage or funding, call (804) 533-2330 or email admissions@rivercityresidentialservices.com.
